Madia Brown Honored as one of DC Mayor Bowser’s Washington Women of Excellence

Washington, DC  – Brandire, a leading creative agency known for its innovative approach to brand marketing and communications, is thrilled to announce that its CEO, Madia Brown, has been honored as one of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Washington Women of Excellence at the annual awards ceremony.

Mayor Muriel Bowser, alongside the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI), celebrated the achievements of nine extraordinary women leaders at the close of Women’s History Month. The Washington Women of Excellence Awards recognizes women who are not only driving significant change but also empowering and uplifting other women through their work.

“These women are not only moving big ideas forward, but are also empowering and uplifting other women with their work,” said Mayor Bowser. “This year’s honorees are leaders in their fields, they all play an important role in DC’s Comeback, and they are role models for the next generation of women and girls in DC.”

Selected from nominations by members of the DC Commission for Women, MOWPI, and Mayor Bowser’s senior staff, this year’s honorees include leaders from various sectors, including healthcare, media, business, and community advocacy. Madia was joined by fellow honorees:

  • Melanie Adams – Interim Director of Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum
  • Beverly J. Anderson, Ph.D. – Clinical Director and Administrator, Metropolitan Police Employee Assistance Program
  • Barbara Lee Bass, MD – Dean, George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences and Chief Executive Officer, The GW Medical Faculty Associates
  • Lena Bradley – Owner, Capitol Coiffure
  • Delia Gonçalves – Reporter and Weekend Anchor, WUSA9
  • Anita L.A. Jenkins – Chief Executive Officer, Howard University Hospital
  • Tonya Kinlow – Vice President, Community Engagement, Advocacy & Government Affairs, Children’s National
  • Jade Womack – Founder, Clockout DC and Economist

Madia’s recognition as one of the honorees underscores her exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to excellence in the creative industry and beyond. Her visionary leadership has been instrumental in Brandire’s success and its continued efforts to drive innovation and positive change.

This year’s Washington Women of Excellence Awards was hosted by Autumn Joi and featured performances by comedian Angelina Spicer, poet Lemonade Dream, and women-only band Be’la Dona.
